Easy Flip Folio

Hi All--I have been seeing so many flip folios and junk journals in social media that I thought I would offer a quick tutorial in case you want to create one yourself.

Supplies: 3 sheets of 11x17 cardstock (I got some from Amazon), your bone folder, paper trimmer, scoreboard if you have one, double stick tape and the designer papers or cardstock you wish to use to decorate your folio.

I haven't finished mine yet since I've been swamped with special orders from my shop, but I will come back and post those photos when I'm finished. So here are the 12 steps to your own flip folio!

Sheet One

Step 1) fold into thirds by scoring at 5 and 5/8 inches

Step 2) fold at score lines. cut off the bottom inch of your folio. This forms the base.

Sheet 2

Step 4) Cut into 3 sections of 5.5 x 11 inches

Step 5) take one sheet, cut off 1.5 inch on the short side, score a half inch flap opposite of that (and apply double stick tape to it) leaving you with a sheet measuring 9x5.5

Step 6) take 1 inch off the short side of the next sheet and score a half inch opposite for a second sheet measuring 9.5x5.5. Apply double stick tape to the fold.

Step 7) take half inch off the bottom of the third sheet and then score and fold a half inch opposite that. Apply double stick tape to your fold. Now you have 3 staggered vertical flip pages for the middle section of your folio

Sheet 3

Step 8) cut one piece measuring 6x11 inches, remove an inch from the short side so that it measures 6x10. Score a half inch on the long side and fold, apply double stick tape. This will be a page on your left section that folds out to the left.

Step 9) cut a piece from the sheet measuring 4.75 x 10.25, score the top short edge of the sheet at a half inch, fold. Apply double stick tape to the fold. This leaves you with a vertical flip page that you can adhere to the top or bottom of your left panel underneath the fold out page.

Step 10) For the right side panel of your folio, take the remainder and measure two pieces. One should be 6 5/8 x 5 3/8 and the second should measure 4 x 6 5/8 inches. These will become a double pocket. Score a half inch on 3 sides of your first larger piece and fold, snip the corners, Apply double stick tape on the folded edges and set aside for now.

Step 11) Take the smaller piece and score a half inch on each short side and fold. Then measure one inch down from the top of your score and cut a notch out of each side. Fit inside of the other pocket. Then adhere to the right side panel as your double pocket with double stick tape.

This double pocket becomes the right side panel of the inside of your folio. Now you are ready to add your favorite papers.

Step 12) finish with your favorite papers and enjoy! I am just showing what I think I will do for the back panel sides but will come back to show off the finished folio.

Here's a quick video of a similar folio I made in case it helps to visualize a final product before I get this one finished.

Sweet Symphony Wide Scallop Mini Album Hello All, Kelly here with my very first post. I hope I get it all just right, but if I don’t please comment and let me know! I don’t know about you, but I love the minis. They are my favorite project to work on…primarily because I can capture an event or a trip in a small package. I often use them as part of my seasonal décor. It’s fun to trot out a themed mini on my coffee table because friends and family pick it up to skip through it. So for today’s project, I’m using the  wide scallop album , which is such an adorable size! Since the album measures 3x8 inches, an 8x8 pad is just perfect for this project. I had saved this one for just the right project. So, I started by finding alternating pages with blush and black, I love that layered look in the waterfall of the scallop. I then traced and cut the bases with my trusty Fiskars and cutter bee scissors. Then once I have my pages cut, I plan and play with them before gluing. This is work at a...

Box of crafty goodness from ClearScraps!

Hello All! I'm back to show off the goodies I received in my ClearScraps guest designer box. I have to create at least one project each month from March until June.  I honestly wasn't sure what Susan would send other than a mini album or two, since she noticed that those are my go to...And yay, there were two included in my kit: I got a wide scallop mini plus a mixed acrylic and chipboard "Cutie" album. But in addition to those, I was delighted to find these chip images: Plus this ship lap shape: Isn't that shiplap awesome?! And wood so very sturdy. My mind was going through the possibilities as soon as I laid eyes on him. I also got a curious wood piece. It's house shaped, and I am still thinking what to do with it. It's large and with the slats, stands on its own once assembled. I had a thought about my craft club in Ocean Pines that we always leave a small spiral out for people to sign in but don't really call attention to it. I was wondering about ...
